About the Jours de plaine
Châtelaine, June 1995
Last Winter, when we met up with him, Daniel Lavoie had released his new disc.
Even if he still didn't know where the Summer wind would blow him, he was able
to give us some interesting suggestions. "We're agreed, I've got a certain
favourite, but why not the prairies? That area is perfect for bike rides and for
walking. Huge expanses of green are discovered anew and I've just one aim, to
get an eyeful of blue sky." According to the writer-composer-performer and
producer, the prairies are today even more wild than in former times. "If you
like birdwatching it's a dream place. When I returned three years ago, I even
saw species that had not lived there in my childhood." Another special place in
his eyes (and his eyes are particularly beautiful!) – the island of Cap Breton
in Nova Scotia. "My sister lives there and I visit her often. It's truly a
blessed place." The villages and the attractions are all along the coast, but
the interior of the island is very wild and almost empty of people "I
experienced the most exciting adventure of my life there, a sea expedition by
kayak, backside in the water and huge waves which washed over my face. All
around, the sea, seals and birds. Wowee!
